You know that feeling you get when you’re venturing into something that you’ve never done before? Fear, anxiety but exciting and thrilling all at the same time. You know that if you push through the fear and anxiety… you’ll succeed and that feeling of joy and satisfaction will bring such a sense of accomplishment! The excitement and anticipation of such an outcome is so compelling that it pushes us to get out of our comfort zone. This is the excitement and anticipation I felt when creating pottery for the very first time. I was afraid to push down too hard on the pedal of the pottery wheel for fear that the clay would go flying or whatever I was trying to mold would crumble back into one big heap of clay, but the feeling of creating something great was so exciting and powerful for me. The anticipation of creating something unique and cool, even if I didn’t know what it was going to look like exactly brought a smile to my face. I could almost visualize my state of satisfaction and a real sense of accomplishment. I had the faith that if I kept at it and pushed through, it was going to be an amazing experience!
These are much the same feelings we have as we face upcoming changes/challenges in our personal and professional life. At some point we all let go of our fears and anxiety, so we may embrace the experience of an exciting and successful outcome that will bring us joy, satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment.
What have you done to get out of your comfort zone to experience something new that brings you joy, satisfaction, and a sense of accomplishment?
I would love to hear about your experiences. My true passion is to help individuals realize their full potential.
